Threadlifting: Nonsurgical Face Lift

Threadlifting is unique because the sutures used do not need to be removed. Rather, they absorb into the body after four to six months, but the effects of the treatment remain to leave you with a more youthful appearance. By reducing fine lines and delivering long-lasting results from a minimally invasive treatment, threadlifting is quickly becoming one of the most popular non-surgical cosmetic treatments in the country.

Nourished MedSpa & Wellness Center offers threadlifting for non-surgical face lifting for patients who are looking for a minimally invasive alternative to traditional surgical facelifts. Threadlifting uses absorbable sutures to gently lift loose skin to treat minor wrinkles and a loss in skin elasticity. These specially designed sutures engage the skin tissue and stimulate the production of collagen and elastin to result in younger-looking skin.

Threadlifting is an outpatient cosmetic procedure that can be performed on site at our office in Sherman, and the treatment takes between 45 and 60 minutes. There is virtually no downtime as opposed to the week or more for a traditional facelift. The treatment is renewable as needed and it’s a highly affordable alternative to surgical procedures.

What to Expect Before Threadlifting

If you’re considering threadlifting, the first step is to schedule an initial consultation with Dr. Carter. He will examine the areas you want treated and determine if threadlifting is a good fit for your aesthetic needs.

Ideal candidates for threadlifting are between their 30s and 60s in age and have healthy skin overall. Before your appointment, you should wash your face, get a good night’s sleep, and avoid any medication that will interfere with local anesthesia. If you take blood thinners, please discuss this with Dr. Carter before stopping any medication.

What to Expect During and After Threadlifting

At your threadlifting appointment, the first step will be the application of a local anesthetic. Once the areas are numb, Dr. Carter will insert the threads through the skin. There are three kinds of threads:  Mono’s, Screws and Barbs. Mono threads are straight and smooth. They resemble the suture material used to repair lacerations. They are used to create a “scaffold” of collagen fibers to plump the skin. Screws are shaped in a spiral pattern. They give the skin an automatic lift by expansion when placed. Lastly, there are Barbs. These threads have microscopic barbs that can engage with the skin and, when placed under tension, have the immediate effect of tightening and lifting the skin. The body’s natural healing will then stimulate collagen production while the thread dissolves over the next 3-4 months, creating a more radiant appearance which lasts for 6-9 months.

You will notice an immediate change in your skin tone. Unlike a traditional facelift, the skin need not be bandaged during the healing process, but you may experience minor swelling and redness, but this should subside after a day or two. You can return to work and resume normal activities after a day or two of recovery and Dr. Carter will check your face to ensure healing is going smoothly at your follow-up appointment.
