Nourished Grow PDO Hair Restoration

Hair restoration, Nourished Grow PDO Hair Restoration

At Nourished MedSpa and Wellness Center, we perform PRP (platelet rich plasma) therapy as a non-surgical therapeutic option for male and female hair loss.

It’s normal to shed some hair each and every day, but excessive hair loss is a big concern to both men and women. Sometimes, this excess loss can progress to baldness. Baldness can be inherited or due to certain medications; it can also be a symptom of an underlying medical condition.

PRP was established two decades ago to be an effective medical treatment modality in the specialty fields of oral medicine, sports medicine and orthopedics. In hair restoration, evidence supports PRP therapy as a promising treatment option to promote hair growth. PRP augments current FDA approved therapies such as DHT blockers (Propecia) and Minoxidil.

Nourished MedSpa’s hair restoration protocol is a unique, minimally-invasive, non-surgical procedure that uses platelet-rich plasma extracted from your own blood. Gently injected into the vascular layer of the scalp, it is designed to stimulate hair regrowth and increase overall hair density.

What is the protocol?

1) Three treatments of PRP injections with the PPP microneedled into the scalp 6-8 weeks apart

2) PDO MONO threads are placed into the scalp in the areas requiring regeneration on the first treatment

3) Daily low-level laser light therapy at home via the laser cap

4) Twenty to thirty drops of the prescription solution are applied directly to the scalp twice daily for 4 months, then daily thereafter

To maintain results, the laser light and topical solution are used indefinitely. Additional PRP treatments are recommended every 6-12 months, with additional PDO thread treatments annually afterward.

How does PRP work?

If the hair follicles or hair roots are healthy, the growth of the hair is healthy. Hair follicles survive on the nutrition they get from their blood supply. PRP consists of your own blood plasma which is concentrated to 7-10 times the number of platelets found in normal circulating blood.

These concentrated platelets contain growth factors which attract stem cells, help stimulate hair follicle growth, increase circulation to hair follicles and decrease inflammation.

First, approximately 60cc of blood is collected from your vein and placed into a test tube (very similar to having a routine blood test performed). The test tube is then placed in a machine called a centrifuge and spun down to separate the red and white blood cells from the platelets, which are suspended in the plasma. This platelet rich plasma (PRP) contains abundant growth factors which are then injected into the scalp where hair thinning is present. There are no restrictions after the procedure. The remaining platelet-poor-plasma (PPP), which also contributes to follicle stimulation, is then infused into the upper layers of the scalp by microneedling. Three treatments 6-8 weeks apart are prescribed.

In addition to the PRP, it has long been known that red or near-infrared laser light promotes tissue repair and regeneration, and low-level laser therapy (LLLT) stimulates cellular activity. With this protocol, a laser cap is used for 30 minutes daily.

The last component to the hair restoration protocol is a customized compounded prescription solution that contains the FDA-approved hair growth medication Minoxidil and other ingredients in a nonirritating propylene glycol-free base. It is to be used twice daily for the first 4 months, then daily thereafter.
